B Lab is the nonprofit that serves a global movement of entrepreneurs using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems, certifying companies to be B Corps and striving to not just to be the best in the world, but to be the best for the world.

The number of companies seeking B Corp certification is growing rapidly. Currently, there are more than 2,400 certified B Corps across 65 countries representing hundreds of industries. B Corps meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability.

Andy Fyfe is a senior member of B Lab’s community development team. He manages the growth and influence of the Certified B Corp community in the United States and in various global markets. Whether or not companies have plans to formalize their corporate social responsibility presence, they can access B Lab’s free assessment tool on their website.

Listen in as Andy discusses why he believes that if more companies form and manage with a responsible conscience, that we all will share in a society of shared and durable prosperity. We also talk to Andy about the B Corp certification process and about how B Lab has also introduced a new corporate legal entity – Benefit corporation – now available in over 33 states across the U.S. as well as Italy, expanding the fiduciary duty of directors to consider the impact of their decisions on all stakeholders (their workers, their customers, their community and their environment) and not just their shareholders.
